Unlike many such events in other places, it is an eagerly awaited affair. The five day meeting gives an opportunity for all parts of this widely spread diocese to describe their work to others, and so for each Chaplaincy to learn what the church is doing in countries they themselves may never visit, but with which they feel they have an organic link through prayer, fellowship and membership of the diocese.
Within the meeting there are also reports on aspects of diocesan life and decisions made about future strategy. Public financial accountability is exercised, the President (the bishop) delivers a keynote address, friends and supporters are welcomed and heard, and all in an atmosphere of prayer and worship.
One morning is devoted to a Retreat at the nearby monastery of St George Mavrovouni. Various social events take place, and there is a final service that includes the renewal of ordination vows and blessing of oils.
