Bishop Sean visits UAE churches

Bishop Sean is completing a week-long tour of UAE parishes with a visit to St Luke Ras Al Khaimah, hosted by the Reverend Kent Middleton.

Bishop Sean was warmly welcomed in each parish, worshipping alongside clergy and congregations and embracing the opportunity to get to know one another.

“Visiting the churches of the UAE has offered an opportunity to understand more of the inspiring work they do in their own right, and as hosts for guest congregations,” said Bishop Sean. “I am grateful for the generous hospitality that has been shown to me, and for the open and constructive conversations with clergy, councils, and church members.”

He arrived in the UAE on 2 June for a meet-and-greet at Christ Church Jebel Ali organised by the Reverend Jim Young, and was a guest at the Larchfield Charity Ball.

In Sharjah, the Reverend Drew Schmotzer accompanied Bishop Sean to meet Syriac Patriarchal Vicar of the Arabian Gulf Archbishop Nathaniel Youssef and Archbishop Mesrob Sarkisian of the Armenian Orthodox Church, and arranged meetings with clergy of the Church of South India, the Church of North India and the Church of Pakistan, as well as with members of the St Martin Bible Study Group.

At Holy Trinity, events included the Reverend Prem Mitra joining Bishop Sean in a tree-planting to mark World Environment Day.
