Farewell to Revd Canon Jebaraj Devasagayam

The Church of the Epiphany, Doha has bid a fond farewell to the Reverend Canon Jebaraj Devasagayam and his wife Mrs Felshi Jebaraj, who are returning to India after ten years in Qatar.

On the evening before his last day of ministry and final eucharists on 23 April 2021, the Anglican Centre hosted a celebration of Fr Jebaraj, Felshi and their children—Immanuel and Sarah.

Among the many well-wishers was Archbishop Michael, who thanked Fr Jebaraj warmly for his decade-long stint in Qatar.

“Building the Tamil-language congregation from just five families to one of several hundred regular worshippers and doing so with energy and graciousness has been a tremendous achievement,” he said. “We shan’t forget you, and we know you won’t forget us.”

Fr Jebaraj and Felshi are moving to Madurai, in the southern state of Tamil Nadu. A fourth-generation ordained presbyter himself, Fr Jebaraj will now resume his academic work, researching a history of the spread of Christianity in the region by Indian catechists, pastors and priests.
