Iraqi faith leaders push for dialogue

The Lebanese Embassy in Baghdad this week welcomed a gathering of Shia, Sunni and Christian community leaders working to improve inter-faith dialogue between Iraq’s ethnic and religious groups.

The meeting, hosted by Ambassador Ali Ga’aga, had a particular focus on the issue of protecting minorities. Participants included Metropolitan Ghattas Hazim, Greek Orthodox Metropolitan of Baghdad and Kuwait; Member of Parliament Sabah Al Saeedy; Roman Catholic Bishop Jack Sulaiman; Greek Orthodox priest Fr Yonan; and Fr Faiz Jerjes of St George Baghdad.
