New bishop for companion diocese Exeter

The Diocese of Exeter in England—companion diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf—has announced its new Bishop, the Right Reverend Dr Mike Harrison.

The Diocese of Cyprus and the Gulf established companion links with Exeter in 1984. Companion links with the Diocese of Thika in Kenya were established in 2005.

Bishop Mike is currently the Suffragan Bishop of Dunwich in the Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich. He succeeds the Right Reverend Robert Atwell, who retired in September.

Bishop Mike said “I am delighted, excited, and honoured to become the Bishop of Exeter.”

The Right Reverend Jackie Searle will continue as Acting Bishop of Exeter until the autumn, when Bishop Mike’s Installation Service will be held at Exeter Cathedral.
